Terra Firma Leisure and Tourism Projects

The foundation underpinning the work of the landscape profession is undoubtedly the design of Parks and Gardens and this can often involve doing so in the context of historic precedent, if not actually having to address it directly as part of a heritage project. This mixed sector continues to throw up a particularly wide variety of creative challenges for the practice.

Tittenhurst Park,
Sunninghill

Tittenhurst was originally built in the 18th century by Thomas Holloway (founder of London University’s Holloway College) and in the 1960’s and 70’s was famously the home to Beatles John Lennon and then Ringo Starr.

Lionel Fanshawe has been involved with the estate since 1990 when it was obtained by HRH Sheikh Zayed of Abu Dhabi. 16 hectares of parkland, arboretum, waterbodies and formal gardens have been spectacularly enhanced and will hopefully be seen one day as an important contribution to the English Country House tradition.
