Many congratulations to our colleagues at terra firma LT in Vilnius, Lithuania, who have just celebrated the completion of their first year of trading!
It has been a busy and successful 12 months, with several projects already completed and a growing client base and reputation for quality work. Headed by ex-terra firma UK landscape architect, Ramune Sanderson, the enthusiastic and talented team are working hard on a wide range of exciting schemes. These include a new public open space and path on a difficult, sloping site on the banks of the River Vilnia in the old town area, a plaza and roof garden for the new business district Quadrum in Vilnius, and a lakeside nature walk and play area at a rural hotel / spa complex.
I visited the Vilnius office last week and spent 2 days meeting the team, discussing the business strategy for the coming year, reviewing projects, visiting sites and sharing technical and business ideas.
I had great pleasure exploring the beautiful old town of Vilnius, and especially enjoyed the Bernardine Park where the planting beds had been carefully set out and designed by Ramune (on behalf of the Municipality of Vilnius) 3 years ago. Set in a bend of the Vilnia River, with the land rising steeply on the far bank the beautifully maintained planting beds flow in great drifts through lawns and around mature trees.
I helped the terra firma LT team celebrate their first anniversary with dinner in the old town and this will be followed later in the spring by an office outing to the Dubrava arboretum in May, 2015
Well done to terra firma LT and we look forward to the coming years, facing the challenges together and celebrating the successes.
